Susan Richardson

About
Susan Richardson earned her undergraduate degree in physics from Washington State University and her Ph.D. in Medical Physics from the University of Wisconsin in 2003. She has worked at several universities, including Baylor College of Medicine and Washington University and is currently a medical physicist at the Swedish Cancer Institute in Seattle. Her clinical specialties include brachytherapy, radiopharmaceutical treatments, standardization, and patient safety.
Susan has held national leadership roles with the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), including service on the Board of Directors and on the Executive Committee as Secretary. She became an AAPM Fellow in 2016 and continues to serve on many committees. Additionally, she volunteers as an examiner for the American Board of Radiology. She also serves the broader scientific community through editorial leadership, including as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics (2023–2025) and as a member of the editorial board of Brachytherapy.
In her spare time, Susan enjoys skiing, playing ice hockey, and camping and hiking with her family in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
