Senate Roll Call Vote on Greenhouse Gases Control Amendment

NOV 24, 2003

The following is the October 30 roll call vote on the amendment offered by Senator Joseph Lieberman (D-CT) and Senator John McCain (R-AZ) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through a series of controls and other mechanisms. The amendment was defeated on a vote of 55 no, 43 yes. The vote roughly paralleled party lines; President Bush opposed the amendment. Six Republicans voted for the amendment while 45 opposed it. Thirty-six Democrats voted for the amendment; 10 opposed it. Two senators did not vote. See FYI #152 for selections from the floor debate.
