Innovations in Informal STEM Learning Act
Purpose
To encourage and promote further research into informal learning opportunities to engage youth in STEM fields, and for other purposes.
Summary of Selected Provisions
- Directs the National Science Foundation to award grants to institutions of higher education or non-profit organizations to fund out-of-school STEM education activities for PreK-8 students. Programs may employ hands-on learning, near-peer mentoring, or other educational tools to increase students’ interest in pursuing STEM careers
