Note: Although the final spending legislation for fiscal year 2025 provided NSF with the same topline budget as the prior fiscal year, the Trump administration has declined to spend $234 million in “emergency” spending that Congress allocated to the Major Research Equipment and Facilities Construction account. For now the tracker includes this emergency spending as part of the NSF topline for fiscal year 2025, though this amount will be adjusted if the administration succeeds in defunding the account.
