Budget Tracker

FY2025 National Science Foundation

Latest update MAY 14, 2025

This page contains interactive tables and charts with budget details for the National Science Foundation in fiscal year 2025. It also links to key budget documents, FYI’s analyses of appropriations proposals and outcomes, and major actions in this budget cycle.

Note: Although the final spending legislation for fiscal year 2025 provided NSF with the same topline budget as the prior fiscal year, President Trump has declined to spend $234 million in “emergency” spending that Congress allocated to the Major Research Equipment and Facilities Construction account. Although Trump’s move may be overturned at some point, for now the tracker does not include this emergency spending as part of the NSF topline for fiscal year 2025.
