The Niels Bohr Library & Archives (NBL&A) is pleased to announce that Melanie Mueller has been named our new Director.
Melanie has been working as the Acting Director since Joe Anderson retired in November and has over 11 years of experience as an archivist and manager with NBL&A. During her time here, she has directed major projects including the digitization of the Samuel Goudsmit papers, upgrading our shelving infrastructure, and the upcoming launch of Member Society collection portals. She is an active member of the scientific archives community and has served as Chair and Steering Committee member of the Science, Technology, and Healthcare Roundtable of the Society of American Archivists (SAA). Melanie is also the administrator for the SAA Archives & Archivists (A&A) listserv, a general listserv for archivists, special collections librarians, students, and those interested in the archives profession. Before coming to AIP, Melanie worked in the Broadcasting Archives of the University of Maryland and in the archives of the Mt. Vernon Estate. Melanie holds a Masters of Library Science concentrating in Archives, Records, and Information Management from the University of Maryland, College Park.
The staff are very pleased to have her as their new Director and look forward to the new ideas and projects she brings to the table! Over the next few months, we look forward to telling you about some of our new projects close to completion and new staff members joining our team.
