- Asthma - A chronic disease that causes an inflammation and narrowing of the lung’s airways. Symptoms include chest tightness, wheezing, shortness of breath and coughing.
- Nitric oxide - A molecule formed as a byproduct of many processes, such as during lightning storms and from the combustion of car engines. People who have asthma also have a high level of nitric oxide in their breath.
- Nanotechnology - The development of tiny materials with dimensions measured in nanometers, or billionths of a meter.
