Happy 2017 from the Emilio Segrè Visual Archives; we hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday season! We’re ringing in the new year by bringing you our favorite photographs of physicists kicking back and celebrating birthdays, accomplishments, and special occasions with parties!
Featured this month are some familiar faces at our very own Niels Bohr Library dedication celebration in New York City, a few birthday parties of notable physicists, and even a snapshot taken at a Golden Days party in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Using high-resolution satellite data for a global analysis of major river deltas, researchers found that 45% of those studied are sinking faster than the rate of sea-level rise.
Since the discovery was first reported in 1999, researchers have uncovered many aspects of the chiral-induced spin selectivity effect, but its underlying mechanisms remain unclear.
