NSF Budget Request for FY 1994: Academic Research Facilities & Instrumentation

APR 08, 1993

The fiscal year 1994 National Science Foundation budget request for academic research facilities and instrumentation is $55.00 million, which is an increase of $300,000 over the current funding level if the supplemental funding legislation is passed.

The budget document states:

“The Academic Research Facilities and Instrumentation Activity increases by $300,000 over the FY 1993 Revised Current Plan [budget], to a total of $55.0 million. The request will be allocated evenly between the Academic Research Facilities Program and the Academic Research Instrumentation Program.

“The Academic Research Facilities Program expects to receive approximately 400 proposals requesting more than $250 million in Spring 1993. These proposals will compete for FY 1993 and FY 1994 funds. Individual awards will range from $100,000 to $2 million.

“The Academic Research Instrumentation Program will hold a new competition in FY 1994. Instrumentation awards will range from $300,000 to $2 million and will require cost sharing.”
