Research

When it comes to assessing outreach, the traditional focus has been on outcomes for the audience. But what about the impact on the university students who facilitate these programs?

In their recent work, Tatiana Erukhimova, Jonathan Perry, and Isabella Oaks have studied how outreach influences the students who help lead these efforts—and the results are striking. Student facilitation of outreach programs has been shown to foster professional skills, confidence, and personal growth.

During this session, our speakers will share findings from a national survey of Society of Physics Students (SPS) members, many of whom are members of AIP Member Organizations. Together, we will explore what their research reveals and what it could mean for shaping the future of outreach programs.
