FYI Implements Listserver for Email List

MAR 17, 1994

AIP has implemented a Listserver, an automatic tool to manage the electronic mailing list for FYI. From now on, individuals will be able to add, and delete, their own email addresses from the distribution list.

Please follow the instructions below to add or delete yourself, and pass them along to colleagues who might also wish to receive FYI.

PLEASE NOTE: If you received this message, you are already on the listserver’s FYI mailing list and do NOT need to add yourself!

Your email message should be sent to listserv@aip.org Leave the “Subject:" line blank.

As the body of the message, the following commands should be used:

add fyi

The listserver will read the email

address to be added from your message

header. The command “subscribe” may

also be used in place of “add.”

add <email address> fyi

If you want to add an address for

someone else, or an address other

than the one you are using to send

the message, you may use this three-

step command.

delete fyi

The listserver will read the email

address to be deleted from your

message header. The command

“unsubscribe” may also be used in

place of “delete.”

NOTE: To protect against unauthorized deletions, the listserver DOES NOT allow you to delete any address other than the one in the header of your message. To have a different address deleted (for example, if you have moved and your previous account has been closed down), please send a note to fyi-listserv-manager@aip.org , and we will take care of it for you.

help

If you do not have the instructions

handy, type this command and the

listserver will respond with

instructions.
