Roster of Institutions Awarding Degrees in Atmospheric Science and Meteorology

The Roster of Institutions Awarding Degrees in Atmospheric Science and Meteorology is a listing of all degree-granting institutions in the US. It includes data from the US Department of Education showing the number of degrees awarding in CIP code 40.04, Atmospheric Science and Meteorology. There are a number of institutions awarding degrees in this discipline that do not report the degrees to the Department of Education under CIP code 40.04. So, the community cannot easily compile data that adequately describe their field.

We have compiled this roster to show the breadth of institutions awarding these degrees. We plan to contact these institutions and collect the names and addresses of recent bachelor’s degree recipients. (This is known as “directory information.” Sharing directory information does not violate FERPA.) We will contact those graduates. We hope to receive enough responses to provide insights to the community regarding career trajectories of graduates in atmospheric science and meteorology for the first time in decades, if ever.
