Who teaches high school physics?

During the 2012-13 school year, approximately 27,000 teachers in US high schools taught at least one physics class. In this report, we examine these teachers’ academic backgrounds and demographics. We also look at where physics fits in their teaching assignments. Over one-third of high school physics teachers are women. The latest data in this report is from our 2012-13 Nationwide Survey of High School Physics Teachers.
