This data-rich report, Common Careers of Physicists in the Private Sector, is one of a set of three and identifies eight types of careers in which physicists work 10-15 years after earning their degrees. These eight types of careers are the organizing theme for each of the three reports. Each of the career types is described in a 4-page profile in this report. The eight profile chapters are available separately here . This report is complemented by two other documents that are compilations of the comments written by physicists in response to the open-ended questions: What are the most rewarding aspects of your job? and Briefly describe your duties and responsibilities in your current job.
