SEP 01, 2015
Results from the 2012–13 Nationwide Survey of High School Physics Teachers
High school physics teacher preparation

In this report, we examine teachers’ self-assessed preparedness to teach physics, their membership in professional organizations, and where they turn for help when they have questions. Overall, almost every teacher reports feeling at least adequately prepared to teach basic physics knowledge and the application of physics to everyday experience. The smallest group – about seven teachers in ten – reports feeling at least adequately prepared to teach recent developments in physics.
